The low, growling, and unfamiliar rumble of a motor slowly ground its way up a long and little-traveled trail, echoing through the relative silence of the chill, thin air. Drawing ever closer to a small, out of the way settlement nestled away comfortably near the mountain's peak, the engine's growl became more easily defined. It clearly wasn't a car, far too purposefully noisy and revving than that type of vehicle would require. Eliminating any further need for guessing, the vehicle pulled through the town's entry gate and revealed itself to be a motorcycle, and one in fine condition at that. Black surface polished to a sleek and painfully bright shine, the massive silver cylinders on its tail growled and vibrated with the rumble of the engine.
Slowing its pace the closer it drew to the inn, the motorcycle drew to a stop beside the building with a dull purr. Kickstand lowering to keep it firmly in place, the motorcycle's rider clipped its engine off with a brief clap of noise. Rising from his seat as the engine cycled down, a relatively young looking man lifted his leg over the seat and stepped down. Dusting off his pants and half-coat idley, he straightened out and looked around. A brief, sardonic smirk touched his lips for an instant before disappearing back behind the stoney facade that protected his inner feelings from the harshness of the outside world's scrutiny. "It's almost like nothing's been changed..."
Booted footsteps falling heavily as he left the bike secured and cooling down, Cloud stepped into the inn and glanced around slowly, feeling his heart ache no matter where he turned. It was all so familiar... It took him several moments to realize someone had been trying to get his attention. Glancing blankly at the innkeeper for a moment, Cloud came to realize that the motion of his lips signified a question. Shaking off the past for a moment, he focused enough to respond to the question of a room for the night and pay for the privilege. Glancing to the staircase, Cloud paused for a moment before ascending into the shadowed halls of his past, therein hopefully to find some measure of peace for the ghosts lurking inside.
