Name: Vincent Valentine
Alignment: AVALANCHE/ WRO
Age: 27 (physically) 67 (chronologically)
Race: Genetically modified human (also contains demonic persona's inside his mind)
Appearance: img.forumfr.com/arcade/20050602_Vincentbig.jpg
Personality:
A very enigmatic figure, Vincent tends to keep to himself, with no-one but his friends and a few enemies knowing his true past as it is a very full one. The first impression that people get of Vincent is of someone cold, silent and strangely intimidating, and yet he fights for good in every situation he encounters. People who have met him more than once would know that he is actually a good person and a loyal fighter for AVALANCHE, and he’s a close friend with all its members.
Though a bit of a loner, he enjoys the company of his team and is often in a commanding position, due to his reputation and skills as a fighter and leader. A deadly shot and naturally intelligent person, he is quite trusted, but has trouble trusting others and is wary as a person, in almost all situations. However, if a friend is in danger or there is some evil at work, he has been known to launch himself into fights with less than his usual caution.
Due to his past and the troubles of his life, he appears very mature, even for an adult, and seems to be older than he really is, and a lot older than he looks.
Abilities:
Demons – Due to Hojo’s experiments, Vincent houses the psyches of four demons inside him – the Galian Beast, Death Gigas, Hell Masker and Chaos. In times of particular emotional stress (anger predominantly), these demons take over his mind and morph his body into their demonic forms. While in these forms, Vincent has very little control (except for Chaos, who he has some control over) but over the years he has trained so that they rarely take him over.
Deadly Shot – Not only having a natural talent for accuracy, but after being trained and doing extensive practice upon his marksmanship, Vincent is a truly deadly shot with any gun. Favouring pistols, he can hit any shot, even while running or atop a moving vehicle, hence his skills are often called for.
Close combat – Though lacking in brute strength (especially compared to comrades such as Barret), he has been experimented on, and has agility and speed beyond that of a human, and can match many enemies in close combat. Though trained as a Turk, Vincent also has a natural physique suited to battle, and this combined with his use of his gauntlet and pointed plated boots make him a competent foe in close quarters.
Stealth/Espionage – Due to his being trained as a Turk, he specialises in reconnaissance and stealth missions, having light footwork and a natural aptitude for not being seen (despite his bizarre clothing). Also he has extended knowledge in assassinations and interrogation, though he chooses not to use those skills.
Tactics/leadership – Though not a natural leader such as Cloud or others, he has been known to take charge of men in battle and is a smart (if a little cold) leader when with the WRO.
History:
Not much is known of his past, and he shelters many secrets and past sins, rarely telling anyone of the finer points in his life before AVALANCHE. Vincent has told no-one of his childhood, but it is known that about 30 years before being awakened by Cloud and the others, he was a member of the Turks when ShinRa was still known as ‘ShinRa Manufacturing Works’. At one point he was assigned to supervise the Jenova project in Nibelheim with professors Hojo and Crescent, the latter of which he fell in love with. However, Lucrecia had been a friend of his father Grimoire, and during an experiment years ago, he had died protecting her, causing her to feel guilty and distance herself from the enamoured Vincent.
Lucrecia became involved with Hojo, and became pregnant with his son, who would grow up one day to become Sephiroth. Hojo planned to use the foetus as a test subject for the Jenova Project and injected Jenova cells (thinking Jenova was a Cetra) into the unborn baby. When Vincent found out, he confronted Hojo, shocked that he would use humans (especially Lucrecia) as a test subject, despite her willingness in the process. A heated argument started between the Hojo and Vincent, which ended in Hojo pulling a gun from his lab-coat and shooting Vincent in the chest.
Hojo then proceeded to use his half-dead body as a test subject, for experiments involving strengthening the endurance of the human body, and metamorphosis, enabling the body to transform into various monstrous forms. These experiments worked, but Vincent died during the procedure. Lucrecia was devastated at his death and used her knowledge of Chaos to infuse him with chaos-tainted mako and revive him. Surviving the process, he was able to partially control Chaos due to having the protomateria also in him.
When he awoke, he learned that Lucrecia had died from illness due to the birth of Sephiroth and he believed himself responsible for her death. In despair he locked himself in a coffin in the Nibelheim mansion basement and spent about 28 years inside. During his time there, he would relive his nightmare of being responsible for Lucrecia’s death due to his inability to stop Hojo from experimenting on her baby.
Vincent awoke briefly to aid Verdot (an old Turk friend) against AVALANCHE before returning to his slumber. Years later he is awoken by Cloud and friends, who managed to talk him into joining them in their quest (the idea of revenge against Hojo convinced him). Vincent aided the team throughout their quest against ShinRa, and though he wasn’t present for the final battle against Sephiroth, he and Yuffie helped evacuate Midgar before meteor hit.
After the defeat of Sephiroth, Vincent travelled the world, keeping a loose connection with his friends and appearing here and there to help people. However, when he heard rumours of the remnants of Sephiroth he went to the forgotten capital, where he rescued Tseng and Elena, learning of the remnants existence. Vincent then saved Cloud from his battle with the remnants and aided in the battle against Bahamut, as well as observing Cloud’s fight against Sephiroth.
A year later, he was called into duty once again due to emergence of Deepground, and fought alongside the WRO against these new enemies. Eventually he defeated the Tsviets and stopped Omega destroying the world, finding some forgiveness for his ‘sins’.
Straight after the events with Deepground, Vincent swore that he had forgiven himself for his sin, and intended to keep in contact with his friends, perhaps even start a new life. However, mere months later he retreated back into his self-blame, and drew away from his friends, barely having contact with any of them for 7 years. It is unknown why he didn’t continue to forgive himself for his past sins.
