It was a vicious, salty breeze that had awoken her. The sky was a deep, bright, healthy blue. Birds were singing. The ocean was harmonizing with steady waves rolling onto the shore that tenderly caressed her bare feet, gently urging her to wake up and enjoy the day. The water was warm from the sun high above, so green and inviting. The water around Mideel was permanently tinted green from a high concentration of Mako beneath the island. Some believed it had healing qualities, but most were more wary of the dangers that Mako held. After the ShinRa company, who wouldn't be..? Regardless of the qualities of the energy, or its supporters, it didn't seem to cause much trouble when in the ocean water. A small case of poison for the people with the most selective health, but otherwise not much harm done... The fluttering of her pink dress against her legs tickled. Still quite unconscious, she turned in her sleep; a flower caught in a mental storm between the past and present. Physical feeling was something that she hadn't felt in quite a while... Of course it wouldn't disturb her so easily. She breathed deeply, inhaling life with the full force of her functioning lungs. The strong scent of the sea made them nearly go numb. An intense gasp ensued as the air thickened in her dry, aching throat. Her mind was fully aware before her eyelids even began to open. She could feel the individual grains of sand against her arms and legs; some were cool and refreshing, others (presumably pebbles) felt like minature knives poking into her side. Pain seemed like a new concept after so long feeling nothing at all. Her green eyes flickered slowly open Her hair was quite literally everywhere-- it waited around her motionless body almost as if protecting her from unseen evils. Her jacket was...gone. Taken somewhere far away, possibly never to be seen again. With that fact established in her mind, her very first movement was a silent shiver. The sun was above, the water was warm, but the breeze was...cold. Unnaturally cool compared to the surroundings. With her ear pressed against the ground, she could almost hear the energy of life as it flowed far below the land. She clenched her fists as another shiver ran up her spine. In her hand was...the ribbon. She felt it, felt its smooth texture against her palm. She moved her arm beneath her and felt the joint crack. It had been quite a while, indeed. Testing her strength, she forced her upper body into more of a sitting position. At the sudden change of pace, she felt slightly dizzy. "I'll come back...when it's all over."She hadn't moved a muscle in so long... Her body was sore, to say the least. Determined to fight the fatigue, she lifted her head and looked around. The sea was beautiful, the sky was blue, the clouds were white and puffy, and barely hung in place. Another shiver came as one of the fluffy animals made its way in front of the sun, severly dropping the temperature. She moved her feet away from the lapping waves, knowing that their warmth would be as fleeting as the sun's. Aeris sat for a moment, curled into a sitting position with her head resting upon her knees. Wh... She inhaled again, tasting the salt-heavy air. Why...Why am I here..?Her bright eyes glanced behind her, curious of what secrets were possibly hidden there. "Well, hello there, stranger..!" The voice startled her, yet she turned her body to see more. Ignoring a small bit of pain that still resided within her spine as she put it to work, she turned to find a kindly elderly man staring back at her. She studied him ifor a moment, intaking his balding head and warming smile. Without even realizing it, she returned the gesture tenfold. "She was always smiling...even to the end.""Never seen you 'round these parts before," he continued with a chuckle. "We don't get many visitors to Mideel." "Mid...eel," she mouthed silently. The name didn't quite register. It was familiar, but not entirely.. "You must've fallen asleep in the sun," the man suddenly insisted. "Where do you come from, stranger?" The smile remained as it was. "Mid," she began softly, testing her voice. It was a little painful to speak, but it just wouldn't be polite to let a question go unanswered. Mid...Mid... so close, yet so far! What was the name...?! She had so many memories---so many other names---but where was that one..?! "Mid," she tried again, a bit more confident. Mid...Mid...Midg...ar...? Midga...r?"Midgar," she finally decided. "I'm...from Midgar. My name is Aeris." Her smile remained as well. How strange...it seemed to roll right off of her tongue. "Midgar!" The man exclaimed in complete disbelief. "You've come a long way, girl! What on earth are you doing here?!" "I," she paused for a long moment. I don't quite know... "I just...found my way here, I guess." She chuckled slightly, at a loss for words. The man stared at her for what seemed like a long time. He seemed to be considering all possible angles of the situation. "Well," he finally began again," it'll be dark soon. We don't get visitors often. Please, feel free to stay with me and my wife tonight. We'll sort things out later." ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~` It was quite a long walk through the forest, and not especially thrilling in bare feet and unused legs, but the man had wonderful patience. They took it slow and chatted a bit, telling of life experiences and memories... She clutched the ribbon tightly even as they walked, not quite willing to let go and tie her hair back with it. She distinctly remembered not being alive...but suddenly she was. Something was quite amiss, as the Planet couldn't pick and choose who went where after life. Everyone went to one place, and that was the lifestream. It was nearing dusk when they finally reached the tiny village... Despite its isolation, many people lived there, and it was actually quite...bustling, for its size (or lack thereof). "My name is Paul," the old man finally stated when they made it through the enterance gate. He seemed to have forgotten his own introduction before, when she mentioned her name. He stopped and pointed to a house far above them, nestled within the wooden frame and support-system of buildings. "You must want to explore, since this is your first time here." He seemed to sense her curiosity quite well. "My house is waaay up there," he motioned to the building with a slight whistle. "Just head there when you get tired. Don't forget, now!" "Thank you very much," Aeris quickly thanked Paul as he began to walk away. Her mind was suddenly preoccupied by this new place. I'll find out why I'm here soon enough...What matters is that I AM here, now. She smiled to herself, making a mental note to temporarily forget what brought her back into life for just a few hours... Mideel seemed to be more of a gorgeous, tropical paradise with every second. Her eyes jumped from object to object as she intook all of the surroundings. Finally deciding that clinging to the ribbon was silly, she stretched her arms toward the sky then brought them down to tame her wild hair, combing it with her fingers gently. Her infamous pink bow still did a lovely job keeping the wayward curls out of her face That's the best it'll get for now. She sighed out of more relief than concern. Aeris Gainsborough had a lot of investigating to do, and none of it was going to happen by just standing around. Her first order of business was to...find something to quell her aching throat! Perhaps some other kind villagers would have just what she needed. And so she began to walk. Attachments:

(( just writing something quick to get my RP muscles working again. Great post btw ))
He had awoken on a strange beach, under a cloudless sky and a bright, full moon up in the sky, bathing his silver hair in its unearthly glow. Even with his enhanced eyes, he could not make out any distinguishing details from his surroundings. The ocean was pitch black, but the air was uncharacteristically cold for a beach like this. Based on that thought, he deduced that he could only be in Mideel. It was far south enough in latitude that temperatures could dip this low during the winter months. With an idea of where he now was, he decided it was best to move. No use sitting helplessly on this beach when there questions to be answered and things to be done.
And so, with that determination in mind, he got up, not in the least big amused by how his muscles ached in protest to his movements.
It would seem that I have regained my original body.
It was a thought did not comfort him in the least. Mother's body offered him so many more freedoms and powers that his human shell could not compare to. But, it was much better than having his soul painfully picked at by the planet, attempting to crush his will with its own. He should be glad to get some respite from the assault, if nothing else. He walked, unsure of which direction he was heading through a dark forest. He came across what appeared to be some kind of crude path, and followed it, readjusting to the feel of his feet. He had not actually felt any kind of physical human sensation since that day he had plunged himself into the reactor with Mother's head.
Ah. lights. Perhaps now I will get the answers I require.
As he made his way towards the lit up town, he realized he had no clothing, and no weapon, as well as no means to create them, seeing as how mother's cells were no longer present in his body in a measure large enough to use those abilities. As he approached, he could make out the glow of the giant Mako pool below, confirming his deduction that he was indeed in Mideel.
Now that I've established a location, its time to acquire food, clothing, and supplies
His SOLDIER training began to kick in. It was the perhaps the only one of his human skills that had ever been of any use to him after he had been reborn. He slowly made his way up a road, as his elevation increased, his body protested more and more, clearly showing that he was not in peak physical condition. Even his human body was supposed to be much stronger than this.
I suppose rest and nourishment would remedy this problem. A waste a time, but it cannot be helped.
As he reached the top of the hill, his muscles seemed to thank him for a chance to rest after such a grueling climb, but he would not give them such pleasures. He quickly proceeded to climb a nearby building, his stealthy movements making it seem like he had been doing missions for Shinra the entire time til now. As he reached the roof, he looked for what appeared to be the most expensive house in the town. No doubt the residence of the richest individual in town would serve this purpose of getting food, clothing, and supplies quite nicely.
Ah. We have a winner.
Picking out the appropriate residence, the aid of the moonlight and his enhanced eyesight helping him with the task, he was relieved to see it was close. He moved with a very human level of agility. He had not moved this slowly since his teenage years, but it was still quick and quiet enough to not alert anyone to his presence. He had always found it strange how the nights of such towns were so quiet, in comparison to Midgar, the city which never slept.
Here we are.
He found the back entrance to the house, using his SOLDIER training to unlock the door silently, and slipped inside. His first order of business was to find clothing. Looking around, the house was actually quite large, almost a mansion. It had stairs leading to a second level, which he made his way towards. Not hearing anyone around, he made his way further in. He came across a set of doors. Choosing one at random, he found a bedroom, with a middle aged man sleeping inside. There was a closet, which he made his way towards. Being careful not to wake the man, he opened it and looked inside, looking for something he would want to wear. He was a bit surprised at what he found. It was the uniform of a SOLDIER. Judging by the design, he was a first generation SOLDIER, one of the first group which he was originally a part of. He must have trained with this man at some point in his life. But pushing such details aside, he grabbed the uniform and a brown cloak that happened to be folded up nearby, along with a satchel. It looked like the man had become a traveler after leaving SOLDIER.
He made his way back downstairs and put the outfit on, somehow feeling very nostalgic. Now dressed, and with the cloak hiding his features, he could afford to hide in the lower section of town without catching much suspicion. He proceeded to a kitchen area on the first floor, opening the pantry and finding various different kinds of food that he could live on for a few days until he regained his strength to hunt his own. Grabbing what he could that would not rot in the satchel, he closed it up and made his way outside when he noticed someone bringing down and object towards him. He instinctively grabbed a wrist that was speeding towards him and brought his other hand up to the person's mouth.
"Oh, whats this?"
He could now see that it was maid who had been inspecting the house, her fearful eyes developing tears as she dropped what appeared to be a pan. He quickly grabbed it as it fell to avoid producing more noise than was necessary. Understanding the situation, he quickly continued.
"Listen woman. You will not say anything about my presence here. If this incident is reported, I will return. I will find you, ravage your body and then kill you. Do you understand?"
It was a crude threat, not elaborate in the least and easy to see through for any trained individual, but it had always proven rather effective on common townsfolk back in his SOLDIER days, before the Turks came into the picture to take care of that kind of work. Satisfied with the woman's response of quickly nodding her head, he slowly released her from his grip, and quickly disappeared into the shadows of the night. Not hearing any screams for help behind him, he was satisfied that the woman had taken his threat seriously, and proceeded to the lower section of town. Finding a small, quiet alley to rest in, he sat and grabbed some food from the sack to eat. Satisfied that his night's work was completed successfully, he went to sleep.
=============
The light of the sun was the next thing he remembered seeing, as people walked past on a bustling street. Every once in a while, he would receive a strange glance from anyone who happened to look his way, but they said nothing, and simply walked along. The hours passed by this way, as he sat there, allowing his body rest. Occasionally he would eat to keep himself nourished. But that was when it happened.
As the sun began to set, he saw her. She was walking with an elderly man, and when they had parted ways, she seemed to make a decision about something and began to walk his way. As she walked in his direction, he stared at her intently, like a predator waiting to claim his prey. As she walked by him, she looked his way, trying to take in all the sights, and that was when their eyes met...

(( Much appreciated, Seph. Yours was lovely as well, as always. Please excuse some of the mistakes, as I'm writing this out of near-exhaustion.))
Her smile was wide, her personality beaming, as it always had been. Just from chatting with a wonderful pair of women and explaining her slightly 'lost' situation, she'd earned herself a strange drink, made from ice and a flavor that she didn't recognize. Her throat thanked her a little more with every sip. Surely she'd acquire a decent pair of shoes at this rate--but for the time being, the sandy ground of the village was warm from soaking in the sun, and it was pleasing to her toes.
It was a busy place, even with the distinct lack of people. Nothing like Midgar. People were...happy. They were kind, even to a stranger like herself. Isolation seemed to be a foreign concept to them, despite the sillyness of the statement. In the twilight, even the tropical-styled lights seemed happy to be shining. They sat, and beamed, and people-watched through the evening, until everyone filed into their connected homes to wait and celebrate the next day.
It was at this moment that she noticed a rather solemn-looking man, slumped against the side of a building. He was quite noticeable amidst the bliss; his obvious contrast almost seemed to be contaminating the area, itself. A strange aura surrounded him--an ominous one. And yet he was familiar in his entirenty. Aeris felt as if she should know him, and she found herself staring as she half-heartedly sipped the flavor from the bottom of her drink.
And then their eyes met...
They were such an incredible aquamarine---such a brilliant blue---like spears of ice shooting through the ragged, brown cloak. She knew them; she knew them all too well...
That color of blue was the mark of someone who came from SOLDIER.
The cruel nature emitted from them, however, was the mark of someone in SOLDIER whom she did not particularly care for. Someone whom she had hoped (despite the lack of hope in the afterlife) that she would not have to ever meet again. Se--Sephiroth..?!? Her mouth was dry, despite the taste of the drink still lingering in it. The realization had brought her to a complete stop. She was now stuck between a rock, and a madman-murderer who had tried to completely destroy civillization.
Thus Aeris was conflicted. She had quite a good idea of whom her grey-green eyes were currently locked on. The question was, should she make a hasty retreat, or attempt to win the silly, pointless staring contest and just walk on?
He seemed to be staring eerily into her, analyzing every possible way to complete what he had apparently not finished in their last meeting. (Last being quite literal.) She should have been expecting it. Why would she be lucky enough to end up alive and alone on an island in the middle of nowhere? The fact that she was staring down her final foe (final also being quite literal) had further perturbed her. Perhaps he held the answers that she lacked, as something was definitely amiss considering the circumstances. But upon thinking further, perhaps those very answers were really of no importance if they were with him, of all people...
She waited, at a three-way crossroad between curiosity, confusion, and (as much as she didn't like to admit it) fear. Aeris had gotten used to walking again, but running might end up being quite a different story if she was forced to try.
He didn't seem to be armed. Unfortunately, neither was she.
He moved slightly, as if calculating his own plan just as she was hers. Would he get up...? Aeris was relaxed, but could easily move and retreat if she needed to.

Just like a trainee fresh into boot camp, she telegraphed her thoughts through her body language. He could easily tell that she would most likely run at the slightest hint of hostility. She was right to fear him, but such a reaction would be foolish on her part.
"Don't even think about running, girl. We both know it would be a futile attempt. My lack of a weapon does not mean I do not possess the ability to kill you where you stand."
He could snap her neck with the same ease as a person would snapping a twig in two. SOLDIER training was a difficult and grueling process, but from that training was born a new breed of killing machine, the likes of which the world had never before seen. Each SOLDIER was an instrument of warfare without parallel on the field of battle, armed or no. But that was irrelevant information at this point, given the collapse of Shinra and all its might into dust.
"Come, girl. Sit. I won't do you harm. That would serve no purpose at this point."
He needed answers, and though unlikely, so far as he could tell, the girl might be able to provide some. In his experience, when faced with the unknown, a familiar face, even if unwelcome, is always a good start.
It might be best to try and convince her to join me, until I have a better grasp of the situation.
In truth, other than WHERE he was, he had absolutely no knowledge of the situation. Like how much time had passed since his last appearance, how he had gotten here. He thought of many possibilities, but none made any kind of logical sense. Something was certainly amiss, and the appearance of the girl only solidified his suspicions further. Something big was going on, and the fact that he had no knowledge of it irritated him to no end.
Noticing the girl had not yet moved, firmly rooted to her spot. He was getting annoyed.
"I said come and sit, girl. Running now will only end painfully for you, so save us both the trouble and do as I say. Trust me, if I wished to do you harm I would have done so by now."
Still sitting, he waited for a reaction from her...

She stared at him for another minute, taking the sight of him in. His personality was vicious, yet he looked rather pathetic in his slumped state. Aeris dared a chuckle on the inside.
I bet if he could kill me, he would have by now. By the looks of it, he doesn't have much energy to do much of anything at all. She smirked, slightly.
"I don't see any reason to be afraid of you right now," suddenly brimming with confidence despite the situation, she beamed at the man. Without his sword, and covered in a rag-tag assortment of clothing, including the SOLDIER uniform, he seemed a bit more silly than menacing.
I suppose it won't do any harm to stay until he has the strength to carry out his threats. He had been here for a bit longer than she had, that she could tell, but he was still sluggish. Even if he might have an area advantage, she knew that she could outrun him for at least a little while. If Aeris could avoid the turks for a number of years (the exact number she could not remember), she could avoid Sephiroth for at least a few hours, provided he try anything funny.
He wants me for answers. If I can prove useful to him, he won't dare try anything. At least not for a while. Perhaps they could find a way back to the mainland and then 'part' ways.
Her oddly-colored pupils gave away nothing but happiness for finding a familiar face, and her smile did not seem devious---it never ever did, even if she was planning something. For now...I suppose I don't have a choice. She approached Sephiroth a few more steps and kiddishly sucked a bit more flavor from the dwindling amount in the cup. Their gaze was not interrupted even as she moved.
"I'm afraid I can't stay and chat long, though," she confessed. "I have somewhere to be after sunset, and it would be so rude to let such wonderful hospitality go to waste." Here came her first offer for a temporary truce... "Perhaps you'd like to come with me?" She kneeled on one knee before the man, able to see a few locks of his silver hair through the cloak. The grimace upon his long face did nothing to inspire friendship, but there was really no other way to go about getting away from him. She gracefully accepted the company even before she offered. It was doubtful that he would let her get away, anyway.
And so she waited, kneeled before him, eyes bright and innocent.

He looked at her as she knelt before him, her womanly scent wafting his nose as she did so. It stirred a very human-like reaction from him, but he suppressed, much as he had done so before he had "died" all those years back. He wondered briefly if the woman was stupider than she looked. Perhaps she had her priorities distorted? Or perhaps she simply did not view the situation as he did. Considering her life's premature end by his own hand, he would not be surprised if her only concern at this point was living the life she had been returned.
"I see."
He thought for a moment. Taking her up on her offer is advantageous in its own right. Shelter from the elements, and the scrutinizing eye of the townsfolk. He did not doubt that he would also eventually run into the owner of the food and clothing now in his possession. Plus, it would put him in close proximity to her, increasing his chances of finding the answers he needed. It would also give him more opportunities to talk, gather as much information as he could, and if it turned out that she was still his enemy, as was the likely scenario, then he could kill her in short order.
"Yes. I do believe I will take you up on that offer. It would be best to talk under the comfort of a roof than out in this alley."
As he said that, he thought that perhaps she would have other uses as well. But he dismissed such thoughts as quickly as they came. That was something to ponder later, once he had a better grasp of the situation. He got up, his muscles protesting as he did so, thought not as much as the night before. He motioned with his hand for her to lead the way. They could talk as they walked.

Perfect, she thought, grinning on the inside. Surely with Sephiroth's help they could find a way off of the island after the night. I'm sure Paul won't mind me bringing a friend, considering the circumstances.
Aeris stood up, her legs silently begging her for a bit of mercy as she did so, and sipped the final bit of her tropical drink through the straw, smiling through the annoying noise that it made.
"Yes, I'd have to agree. Staying in an alley would probably get pretty cold after a while, even here. Not to mention the fact that you look awfully suspicious in that cloak of yours." Conversation was always a good start. "We'll be staying with an elderly couple---the husband's name is Paul." She had a bit of a spring in her step as she began to walk. "You'd better be on your best behavior!" The woman giggled a bit as she looked back at her unlikely temporary-companion.
He didn't seem to be very amused, but from what she recalled in her memories, he often was not. "Let's try not to have a repeat of last time, hm?" She decided to enjoy it while it lasted---his strength would return eventually, and then she would have actual reason to fear him. It was crucial for them to get off of the island as soon as possible, before that was given enough time to happen. If it did, she would be in a real bind... But that time was not now.
"You said you wanted to talk?" She took a few more steps, then turned back once again to wait for him. "Well, what shall we discuss?" Her eyes were still quite lively as she waited for his response.

Her lack of fear towards him despite their history amused him somewhat. Whether she was putting on a front, or if it really was just in her character, he was sure it was an attitude that would certainly get her killed easily. People like her, with such a positive outlook of the world even in the bleakest circumstances, were always a source of astonishment. Perhaps it had been his childhood, or perhaps he had spilled too much blood in his life, but he never could see what could possibly cause such a point of view to flourish. It just never made any sense to him to have faith in people. The few times he did, he was betrayed.
"You do not have to concern yourself with my behavior. It would do me no good to cause a scene by angering the locals. Causing self-inflicted disadvantages before establishing a set advantage is something only a fool of the highest order would do."
As she walked on a head of him, he could already see the night owls emerging on to the streets. Whilst the rest of society had already closed themselves off for the night, the group that slept all day and drank all night began to move. It was a cycle that infected every town, it seemed, even one so far from the influence of the evils that plagued the rest of the world.
"I wanted to discuss the circumstances concerning your arrival here. How did you get here? Who sent you? For what purpose?"
The general questions worked best to start the conversation. Even if she knew nothing herself, her answers might point him in the direction of a much needed clue. He needed to gather the information they DID have, so that he could begin searching for what was missing. Even before she made an attempt to answer, he looked towards the sky, getting the feeling that it would be quite the puzzle to solve.
Well, a challenge every now and again is always good, I suppose.
As he caught up to her, they continued on their way up the hill that he had tread less then a day ago. His legs were already beginning to protest, telling him that they desired not to make such a climb again. But he forced them to move to his will. He got the feeling it would be a long night...

Galen walked into Mideel holding his left arm, he was bleeding from a cut. He walked into the start of town and looked around.'
It was..
weird.
Mideel.. Galen heard of this place, but this place would be a paradise since he has been out in the open for a long time.. too long.
Galen made his way to the inn to rest when he saw two people head up a hill.. And interesting enough.. Galen followed slowly, making each step silent. He was man of silent walks.
He quickened his pace and followed still, keeping his pace even with his arm injured as it was.

"Oh, well, of course," Aeris smiled slightly as she slowed to walk beside the man. "I'm simply on vacation. I just happened to fall asleep on the shore and forget where I was for a bit." She was obviously kidding, yet her tone implied that she did know something else.
"Your questions are so tactical. You sound like you've been sent by an underground branch of ShinRa to wreak some sort of havok upon the people of this small village once you figure out what they're up to." Her voice was a bit mocking, but her tone was finally serious. "Surely you're quite aware that neither of us should be here." She paused, automatically stopping and turning to the man, her eyes bright but solemn. Her skin was especially pale against the dim light from the walkway lights. She grimaced slightly, at a sudden sharp, biting pain as she inhaled. Aeris gripped her chest with her free hand as she attempted to continue, closing her eyes tightly as she braced herself for another stab.
Pain was tingling below her lungs, just waiting for the chance to slip out of hiding. "I-I'm sorry..." She couldn't say anything else.
Aeris began walking again, and motioned for Sephiroth to follow once she got a few steps ahead. They would be there soon enough--perhaps being out of the chilly air would help stop the pain. She had so much to say, but not the breath to say it. It was probably a good thing that she'd decided not to run.

Her pained expression just then had puzzled him somewhat, and raised a great deal more questions in his mind, but judging from her efforts to keep whatever had come over her in, he decided not to press the matter as they walked. He ignored her mocks and sarcasm and replied only to her last comment.
"Yes, I realize that neither of us are SUPPOSED to be here, least of all you. But the fact remains that we ARE here, and very much alive. That much anyone can see. What I want to know is WHY. Why are here? What caused this turn of events? Pondering on what should and should not be is meaningless. We have to focus on what HAS happened and what we are going to do as a result of that."
The gathering a dissemination of information was vital to the success of any plan. If he planned on solving this mystery, the girl's secrets would do him no good. One way or another he would have to get the answers he needed, even if he had to force them out of her. He had many methods to do so, but lacked the tools and strength necessary to follow them now. He would have to wait patiently and see if he could get the answers out of her through conversation alone.

Galen jumped into a tree and watched the two talk about something. He jumped down and slowly walked by them.
His arm was still injured as he walked b, he didn't leave, he kept his distance trying to listen in to what they were saying.
Galen wanted to hear what was going on, maybe if they were talking about something Galen knew about he could get some sort of "relationship" going on with some people that he could use for help..
The man with the silver hair looked familiar..
Who was he?
Some one he might have knew?
Galen rubbed his chin and kept his thoughts to himself and tried to make himself look back at the town as if he was observing it for something..
Would this disguise work?
Or would they talk to Galen..
Who cares anyways..
Galen needed to collect information.. but this man who was with the girl seemed familiar..
Who was he?
He didn't just want to ask.
This might end well.

Aeris walked a bit faster, feeling uncomfortable both from the pain, and from a sense that they were being watched.
"Thinking of what isn't that is, isn't as much of a waste of time as you think." Her words were rushed and riddlesome, something very unlike her. It seemed as if she were covering the tracks of their discussion--a tactical thing to do, considering the fact that they were still quite out in the open, despite the lack of people to hear. "You can't find the root of any problem unless you first figure out what the problem is." She turned slightly, giving the man a small smile and nod despite the pain still a bit evident in her eyes.
They sent him a message that something was very wrong, but that the time for discussion was not yet at hand.
They approached a long set of stairs leading up to a two-story level of houses, and she tilted her head to motion to the one that they were traveling to. It would be a quick voyage, provided she was able to make it up the stairs.
"It's the one on the right," she stated blankly, gazing at the man's intense eyes. They were always so serious... She could only hope that she'd correctly communicated what it was she was trying to say. She was almost positive that something--someone--was watching them. The moving shadows that she caught while walking did nothing to set her mind at ease.
The last thing anyone needed to know was that the two of them should be quite dead.
Any hospitality possible would be lost if any of these people knew that they were dealing with the practical living dead.

His eyes told her that he understood her hidden message, but there was nothing they could do about it now. Causing a scene was the absolute last thing they he wanted to do. The best they could do if someone was eavesdropping was avoiding the topics he wanted to discuss until they could either confront the eavesdropper or successfully evade him or her. He nodded at her and motioned for her to go in first, he would watch their six.
"After you..."
In the worst case scenario, he would confront their mysterious guest after everyone had gone to sleep. Until then he would have to play the part of a hapless traveler making his way through Mideel.

Aeris nodded quickly, motioning for him to follow. The stairs creaked a bit with every step that she took, and by the middle of them her legs were already begging for a break. The muscles ached as if they hadn't been used in centuries, which was an exaggeration in itself, but not one to be taken lightly.
I don't know what's following us, but I doubt it'd be a very good idea to face it in the condition that we're in... She couldn't speak for him, but she guessed that his state wasn't better than hers by much. I can only hope that Sephiroth feels the same... She looked over her shoulder and smiled at the man again.
"How much to you enjoy it here? It's like a tropical paradise without the constantly warm climate." She chuckled slightly as she took a few more steps. Casual conversation was a must if they were to seem inconspicuous. Not that she really fully understood the climate of tropical places, since the most she remembered of them was Costa Del Sol, but it would work as a conversation for the moment. It would have to, since she could think of nothing else.
