[A/N- Before you say a word about the title to this post, I know exactly what it sounds like. And yes, I'm well aware that it is the name brand of a condom. Haha, but it's NOT that type of post....sheesh But even that said, I really don't know where I'm gonna go with this. I just know I want to write as Leah till Tifa and Marlene's situation isn't so damn complicated. So yeah, this was a bitch and a half to write, but I'm glad I wrote it. As much as it took out of me, I think I'm gonna have fun with Leah's storyline as a whole =) ]
It was nearly a picture perfect summer afternoon. The endless sea of clouds etched across the deep cerulean sky moved above the grasslands lazily and stretched across the horizon as far as the naked eye could see. The warmth from the sun’s rays kissed the open faced blossoms scarcely painted across the coarse emerald bladed fields dancing silently in tune kicking up a sweet fragrant breeze. The sudden interjection of a pair of sharply manicured talon feet broke forth the quiet melody of the land kicking in a rheumatic beat all of their own. Poised atop the large feathered mount, the caramel cream haired woman edged the golden chocobo further encouraging her beloved companion to top out his speed as the two raced in a blinding speed over the lands surface.
Hunching closer, Leah kept her back slightly curved and her head tucked to ensure the maximum potential of velocity. Although she wasn’t considered an expert jockey for racing, Leah’s expertise in riding and breaking chocobo’s was next to perfection. Training was another commodity she’d picked up and sharpened her skill at over the years. And there wasn’t a bird in the families flock that she didn’t favor more than her beloved Charlie. Just as soon as their was a break in the days agenda, Leah headed straight for the barn with one thing on her mind. It wasn’t before long, she and her favorite companion were running free leaving all cares and worries behind as they raced towards their secluded corner of the world. It was there that Leah sought refuge from the gulling tasks of running the family business, and there, she felt most at ease. Charlie too, knew where they were heading, and like his owner, he gave it his all to shorten the length of the trip by any means necessary.
Closing in fast upon their desired destination, Leah eased her hold on the taunt leather reins as she started to sooth Charlie with words of appraisal as well as coax the golden bird into a trot. The chocobo cooed a response back feeling the weight on his back shift abruptly once his padded footfalls crossed the threshold of the massive tree’s shade. Wasting little time, Leah spun herself off the saddle dropping effortlessly to the ground of their secluded hideaway. Stopping short from the girth of the trunk, Leah shrugged off the knapsack filled with various goodies for herself and Charlie that she’d managed to pack in her haste filled retreat. Before she could much as get the bag safely to the ground, a firm nudge from behind sent her slender form stumbling forward. Catching herself with one arm, Leah quipped her head back around narrowing her gaze up at the expectant vision of the golden choco.
“Alright! Alright!”, she spat suddenly as the large beak from the choco edged further for a tasty reward. Reaching down into the bag rummaging the contents, Leah found the gallon sized plastic bag she’d filled previously with Charlie’s favorite greens and holding it firmly, she let the knapsack fall to the ground and set to work on getting the seal open. Just as soon as the bag was in view, an excited ear piercing “WARK!” deafened the sullen surroundings. Laughing aloud, Leah turned towards the exuberant bird offering her cupped right hand filled with an ample amount of greens mixed with pureed nuts. Happily, the choco excepted the unique mix that tantalized his senses. Leah stood stagnant as she allowed Charlie to eat his fill before turning her attention elsewhere., “You did good today, I’m proud of ya’ Charlie” Leah spoke softly dropping the empty bag aside before she started to unbuckle the first set of secured straps to the choco’s facial harness when the bird shifted in alarm turning his weight from one foot to the other.
“what in the world….” Leah began but left her sentence unconcluded as she turned her attention in every which direction she knew possible till her sight narrowed in on an unidentified impending figure coming up fast on their location from the uninhabited swampland. Knowing the surrounding area like the backside of her hand, Leah’s gut feeling told her that whatever it was, it wasn’t gonna be up for a nice cozy chat and a friendly talk. Not at all…in fact, every fiber in her being told her it was time to run
