Name : Rufus Shinra
Alignment/Affiliation : ShinRa Corporation
Age : Mid-20s
Race : Human
Appearance : The de facto inheritance of the ShinRa Corporation's president position and years of near-regal treatment from his father and the respective underlings of the vast energy network have taught Rufus to maintain a composed and upper-class appearance, neatly combed parted auburn hair and untouched, pale skin. Compounded with his monochrome suit, the president of ShinRa relishes in what true aristocracy means.
History/Background :
Megalomania is the word most easily used to describe the history and background of this canniving character. Constantly an intimidating personality, the soon-to-be head of ShinRa cares not for others unless they are key to his long term goals, willing to manipulate and damage others for his own ends - namely, the complete control over the ShinRa Electric Power Company. He even goes as far as to disregard creed and blood, turning against his father and funding the eco-terrorists of AVALANCHE, in order to do so. By others means (Sephiroth), his plans are finally fulfilled, and in the storyline of Final Fantasy VII, he assumes control of the entire company without any moment of grievance for the late President ShinRa.
Whereas his father ruled by the old method of money and influence, Rufus claims that he will rule the world through fear, and that a new age is upon the ShinRa corporation. Indeed it is, when Rufus is alerted to the existence of super-SOLDIER Sephiroth, whom he pursues for the majority of the game, through Costa del Sol until the pivotal moment at the Northern Cave. After this, the Diamond Weapon and the Sister Ray do battle, resulting in Rufus' presumed death, the destruction of the Midgar HQ, and the reflected impalement of the Weapon and eradication of the Northern Cave's barrier.
Following this "duck", ShinRa continued to remain alive, though the surviving remnants of ShinRa lacked the power they once had, instead relying on the underground network of the Turks and their reputation in the past.
