Another newbie

I'm a newbie who found this place on Google when searching specifically for a Final Fantasy Seven Roleplay. First reaction...Aeris is Alive? Wooo! <3 I remember being young when played the game and crying at her death. That's perhaps the one time I cried at a game.

What kind of characters and plots are common here, exactly? How fast does the plot progress?

First off,

I'd like to welcome you to the board. It's always great to see a new member come in and is willing to be an active part in the events taking place. And lucky for you, we've just recently started back with a new storyline.

I realize it's a bit vague, but it leaves a lot of wiggle room for others to be creative. I might also suggest you look into the registration area. There are many (and I do mean quite a bit) of canon characters still up for grabs. The only problem I would see is if you're female and would like to take on the role of Aerith, Tifa or Yuffie (all of which have been taken for some time now) And yes! Aerith is alive in this storyline. We try and keep the characters as true to their form from the original series, but at the same time we try and make it our own. Make sense? lol, I hope so

Also, Seph is fine with you creating anyone from a final fantasy game as long as it meets the requirements of this board of course. If you're a bit confused as to what those may be, you can always proof over some approved character bio's in the registration area. Be sure to look into Yuffie's thread there as well to see just who all is active currently in this storyline.

I'm male, and am not yet sure who I would play. An OC possibly, I'm not sure.

On Gaia, I once played someone made from Aeris' DNA after she and her mother escaped Shinra 15 years before the events of FFVII. Intended as a "control" for Hojo's experiments for comparing to Cetra abilities. I am not sure how Mary Sue-ish that'd be though, inventing a kid for Aeris. >.>

The Gaia version also used Cloud's DNA from when Hojo got his hands on him, and he was fairly young because of that...might not work here.

Thats an interested concept, I'll admit. There should be a good number of canons left, but OCs' are always welcome too.

A creation is possible, I'm sure if everyone is fine with it we can think of a way to work it into the story. And there'll always be plots that can come along. If the planned one here doesn't pan out, I personally have a number prepared.

My bad about the whole female assumption deal. But yes, that is quite a unique take for an O.C. Like Gene stated, we are in dire need of canon players. Especially Turks. So if you know of anyone willing to fill those spaces, I’d be grateful. It’s also come to my attention that we do not have Cid Highwind, Nanaki, & most of the cast that sided with Deepground.

Well, when someone's first post mentions crying about Aeris' death, it's understandable to assume that they're female. I cried because I was young and was really touched by the scene. it was wonderfully done.

My experience is limited to the original game and Advent Children...but I know 1 year after DoC translates to 4 years after FFVII. According to the timeline I'm looking at, these events would be 26 years after Aeris was captured by Shinra, and 19 years after she was freed... My character could have been born anytime during the past 25 years, most likely within the last 18, else they could just have gotten Aeris' mother pregnant...which is another option -- I'm sure they'd taken samples of her egg cells and froze them the moment they reclaimed her body. It'd only have been 9 years since Cloud captured Hojo's interest after the Nibelhiem Incident...so if he were to be Aeris and Cloud's, he'd be no older than 8.

I guess the character would most likely be a teenager and not be Cloud's as well, unless a child were permitted.

My idea was that he could hear the Planet since he'd have Cetra blood, but without training, it would be unintelligible or even painful to hear the Planet call to him, at least without help or training from someone.

Another option is that Hojo mistaking his lack of training for an inability and infuses him with mako to have a direct link with the Lifestream (boosting his "reception") -- causing pain when the Planet tries to speak to him because the voice is too strong. I also ponder the Lifestream trying to solve the problem by making his Mako collect to form a Materia in his body, causing him physical pain as the process proceeds, but I have no idea what such a Materia would be nor if it's possible/plausible.

I guess a big part of this would depend on what Aeris' player thought of it.

As for playing canons, my skills with playing them have traditionally been lower than OCs, but I'll take another look at the lists. I'm potentially iinterested Red XIII, but I'm not sure.


EDIT: I drew up a submission for Nanaki / Red XIII. I haven't abandoned the above ideas though...I'd just take two characters.
